Alexis Bachicha organized a chapter 1306 Flying Start event Saturday December 5th. Two students, two pilots, and the organizer met in a heated hangar, wearing masks and socially distancing while drinking pinon coffee. We spent two hours reviewing the process and requirements for getting a pilot license, what types of licenses are available, and what it costs to rent or to own and operate an airplane. After discussions, chapter pilots Joe Simonson and John Lorenz took the students for introductory flights. The weather was superb and students were enthusiastic. We hope to do it again, expanding the program once Covid health issues clear.
